My image “A Time to Feel Small” was recently licensed by the University Press of Kansas for use on the cover of Richard E. Woods new book entitled “Survival of Rural America: Small Victories and Bitter Harvests.” It’s a great read and the cover is pretty cool too!! :c)

Freelance Work for Sunflower Publishing: Topeka Magazine

October 6, 2008

All photographs by Daniel Coburn and are reproduced in this post courtesy of Sunflower Publishing.

I started taking assignments this summer for the fall issue of Topeka Magazine. Governor Kathleen Sebelius is on the cover of this edition. Her portrait was captured by Jason Dailey, a great photographer from Lawrence, Kansas.

I covered a story about Topeka area mascots. I photographed crazy characters from Shawnee Heights, Topeka West, Perry-Lecompton, Seaman, and Topeka High School. I also managed to meet up with the Ichabod from Washburn University. It really was a cool assignment and it was great working with these kids. You can pick up Topeka Magazine at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, your favorite local bookstore, or several businesses in the area.

I also photographed stories about local home brewers, area rugmakers, and the Topeka Cricket Club. I’m currently working on assignments for the Winter issue.
Check it out!!
