The Washburn University Student Art Exhibit opening was very well attended. Over 400 people visited the show for the first Friday gallery walk in Topeka. Below are some photos of the exhibit.
Annual Awards
I was honored with the Charles and Margaret Pollak award which is presented to one outstanding art student at Washburn annually. This means I receive a monetary award and one of my photographs becomes part of the permanent collection at the Mulvane Art Museum. I was very excited to receive this award since there are so many talented students at Washburn. Shannon Berry received an award presented by the Topeka Branch of the National League of American Pen Women for her woodblock print titled “North Topeka Escape.”

I attended the Society for Photographic Education National Convention in Dallas last weekend. I was there for 4 days and it was a great experience with lots of networking opportunities. While I was there I had portfolio reviews by 2 renowned photographers and educators. I had meetings with Andrew Strout, associate professor of photography at Oklahoma University, and alternative process guru Darryl Baird.
Portfolio Review
I wrote a guest post about my experience on the blog of Ian Aleksander Adams. Ian is a very talented photographer who has created several self-published book projects. You can read about one of my portfolio reviews on his blog. He also featured my latest body of work.
New Work
While I was in Dallas I created 2 new works for the Reverie Portfolio.
